Saturday Workshops 2018
I am delighted to announce the next group of Saturday workshops which will start in September. The format will remain the same, all workshops run from 10.00 until 3.30 with a break for lunch. I will demonstrate a step-by-step project on the big screen and provide templates and details of the subject in the week beforehand. The venue is St. James Church Barn, Church End, Biddenham and there is parking and disabled access.
Each workshop costs £27.50 and can be booked in advance by paying a £7.50 deposit. This deposit is fully refundable or transferable if notice is given within 7 days of the workshop date. There is a maximum number of places on each workshop so please book early to avoid disappointment.
This group of workshops is all about one thing – COLOUR. I have chosen some of the brightest topics possible to inspire you and drive away the forthcoming winter blues.
Thank you for those of you who have made suggestions for topics – I have included several of them in this group of workshops.
Saturday 1st September - Venetian Carnival Masks
The Venetian carnival is one of the most spectacular on earth and features the most incredible masks worn by participants. Starting our season of colour you will reproduce one of these amazing masks against a dark background.
Saturday 15th September -Redouté Rose
Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1750-1840) was one of the most renowned botanical artists of his generation. Most famous for painting the roses in Marie Antoinette’s garden, his images are still reproduced on calendars and diaries to this day. I will be producing a slightly simplified image in his style, that anybody can have a go at and produce their own masterpiece.
Saturday 29th September - Zebra
I first produced this picture of a young Zebra as a demonstration piece on a cruise. It proved immensely popular with the bright orange of the desert sand contrasting against the black and white stripes.
Saturday 13th October - Colourful tree bark
Another piece I was commissioned to do for one of the Eden Project books; London Plane and Eucalyptus tress have the most amazing coloured bark so fit in well with the theme of colourful creatures and objects.
Saturday 27th October - Blue Willow Pattern Still Life
The striking contrast of the yellow lemons against the Blue Willow pattern of the cup makes a stunning contrast and a great subject for still life.
Saturday 10th November - Turtles
The fabulous underwater colours made this a must do picture. Once again I will simplify the subject down to make it achievable for everybody.
Saturday 24th November - Christmas Card Special
The subject for this year’s Christmas card special is this magnificent male pheasant in the snow. You will have the opportunity to customise your own cards and have them printed in time for Christmas. This workshop is always extremely popular and sells out very quickly.
Saturday 8th December - Conch Shell
Finishing off this series of workshops and to help you think of summer days ahead is this study of the magnificent conch shell.
I hope there is something here for everyone to enjoy and look forward to welcoming you to the workshops. Contact me on 0770 6650456 for more details or to reserve a space.
